K-1 Sight Word and Phonemic Awareness Resources

The following flashcards are some of the words you child will be assessed on this year.  Have your child read the words to you.  If they don't know quickly and automatically make a game from them.  See website above for ideas.  Our class favorites require printing two copies of each word and then playing Memory or Go Fish.  You can also play Old Maid-Have your child draw an Old Maid card to go in the pile.

Another favorite is Pop. For that game you only need one of each word you want to review and about three or four cards that say Pop!  Each Player choses a word from the pile and reads it on their turn. If they draw the word Pop! then they must put all their cards back!

You can also play any board game but the twist is that you need to read a word before you take your turn.  Have Fun!
First Grade Cards
  • Snakes and Ladders Directions-cut off outside edges.  Use tape on back to tape together the board.  Number one goes on bottom left.  Number 8 goes on bottom right.  The Finish square is the top left and number 57 is the top right.  You will need counters for people and a dice to play this game.
